Happy Christmas Eve! (a little early)

I'm posting this a few hours early because I have an appointment at 7am in the morning (which is when I usually do my blog posting) to give blood at the annual Christmas Eve blood drive that they have here in Madison. My sister and I are trying to make this a tradition. Last year we chose late afternoon appointments and we waited FOREVER so this year we decided to take the first ones of the day...what in the world were we thinking. It sounded good several months ago when we scheduled the appointments but now that it is almost here, the thought of getting up and out of my house by 6:30am sounds near impossible. Wish me luck!

Today I have another card that I made using the QKD butterfly stamp. Just like yesterday's card, I was going for a crisp, clean, simple look. I think I got that with this card. I was actually really pleased with how this one turned out. What do you think?Supplies used: Stamps from Queen Kat Designs, SU CS, Sharpie marker, Hero Arts self adhesive gems, Cuttlebug folder.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!!! Thanks for stopping by!

SNOW, SNOW, GO AWAY....

and please don't come back ...EVER. We have gotten way way too much snow already this year. After getting more than a foot of snow in the past week they are calling for 4-6 more inches tonight and 4-6 more inches tomorow. To make it even worse our temperatures are still sub zero. Thank Goodness we are escaping on Friday to Florida for a warm and sunny family vacation!
Until then I'm going to continue to dream of my favorite things about summer...warm temperatures, sun, and butterflies! You all know that butterfly stamps are my absolute favorite, and I have a bunch of new butterflies that I haven't even inked up yet so starting today I am going to share a few butterfly cards to help boost my attitude until I can leave this frozen state for the sunny beaches of Florida.
For today's card I was going for clean and simple. This butterfly was just calling for me to cut it out and pop it up, LOL!

Supplies used: Stamps from Queen Kat Designs, SU CS, Basic Grey DP, Hero Arts black rhinestones, Bic marker.

Thanks for stopping by today! Even though we are going on vacation, I'm hoping to have blog posts scheduled while I am gone.
Oh and don't forget Jacksonbelle Embellishments will be hosting some awesome New Year's Eve challenges that you won't want to miss! I will have those scheduled to post also!
Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Anyone who participates in any of the QKD blog hop challenges will have their names put into a grand prize drawing for some goodies from Queen Kat herself! The more challenges you do the more chances you have to win. You do not have to use QKD stamps for the challenge but you will get an extra entry in the drawing if you do! Have fun!

Lost Mojo

I'm not sure what my problem is but my mojo is gone and I've looked everywhere for it. Up until yesterday, the last day I sat down and actually stamped was Nov 3rd. Yesterday I decided to try and overcome this depressed, lost mojo feeling and well...it didn't work. I sat in my stamp room for over 7 hours. Yes, I said it over 7 hours. Tom watched the kids for most of the time and I had peaceful stamping time. Unfortunately after 6 hours I had absolutely NOTHING to show for it. I was trying to make some calendar Christmas gifts and they just weren't working. After 6 hours I gave up... I cleaned up my table and threw about 30 pieces of cut up cardstock in the recycling bin. I sat there and almost cried. I managed in the next hour and a half to make 1 card using Beate's weekend sketch but in the end 7 1/2 hours of stamp room time = 1 card. I just can't figure it out if it is the weather or the daylight thing or just me getting older...I truely hope my mojo finds its way home soon because I'm running out of previously made projects to share.
Sorry to be such a downer!

Speaking of previously made projects, I do have a few more things to share this week. Wednesday is the big QKD birthday celebration! There will be a blog hop with challenges and prizes. QKD is also featured on the Stamp Something, Sheet Loads of Cards and 2 Sketches 4 You challenge blogs this week. Make sure to check them out for a chance at winning some fabulous prizes. Today 2 Sketches 4 You will be highlighting these two QKD sketches. If you decide to play along, make sure you post a link to your creation on the 2 Sketches 4 You blog!
ETA: Apparently 2 Sketches 4 You didn't use the 2 sketches that we were given by QKD...if you want to participate in the 2 Sketches 4 You QKD prize drawing please go to their blog and use the 2 sketches provided there, not the 2 sketches I'm showing you here.

Still alive, but still not stamping

Not sure where my love of stamping went but I have not had a single happy thought about stamping in a while. I don't know if it is the change in weather or daylight savings or what but I'm just feeling sort of blah.
I do have a card to share today though that I made a few weeks ago. Queen Kat Designs just had a release party this past Saturday and I happen to have made a few cards with one of the new stamps. To see all of her new releases check out her store HERE.

Here is one of the cards I made with the newly released Hoot single stamp and the Elegant Sayings stamp set:
Supplies used: Stamps from QKD, Misc CS and DP, self adhesive rhinestones, alcohol based markers.

I hope you are all having a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Halloween!

I don't have any Halloween cards to share today but I do have some pumpkin carving photos. A couple nights ago Tom and the kids carved a pumpkin. I tried to take pictures of them all engaged in the pumpkin carving process but to be totally honest the kids would rather pretend to be monkeys and monsters and princesses than pay attention to the pumpkin carving. They did mange to get it done but I can say the kids were not much help. I carved 5 more yesterday but haven't taken any pictures of them yet. I'll try and get that done tonight and will post more tomorrow.

Here's our monkey
and our 2 monsters

getting everyone to look at the camera is impossible!

I actually have a card to share today too. I made this a few weeks ago but since I am running on the "simple" theme this week I thought I would share this card I made using the Funky Tree set from Queen Kat Designs. BTW, QKD is having a sale today only - 25% off all QKD stamps.
Supplies used: Stamps from QKD, SU CS, SU DP, Cuttlebug embossing folder, misc ribbon, self adhesive rhinestones, SU corner punch, foam dimensionals, rhinestone brads.

I hope you all have a Happy Halloween. We have lots of trick or treating to do today so hopefully I will have to cute pictures of Sleeping Beauty and Scooby Doo to show you tomorrow!
Thanks for stopping by!

I think those are all of the boring details you need..LET'S GET STARTED!!!

CHALLENGE #1: SILVER AND GOLD!
Since it is pretty early in the morning for a lot of you, I thought I would start you off with an easy one. For this challenge you need to make a card or project using either gold or silver. Gold or Silver do not need to be the main color (but they can be) they just need to be used somewhere on the card. This could mean using silver or gold brads, cord, paper, etc. etc. The possibilities are endless! Have fun!
Remember, you need to post a link to your project on THIS blog post to be eligible to win!

Here is my example. I just got my new set of QKD stamps yesterday and I just love this little alien; isn't she just adorable!
Supplies used for my card: SU black and SU brushed silver cardstock as well as some DP from DCWV. I also used a transparency sheet to make the ships capsule look like glass. The stamp is from QKD and the sentiment is a rub-on from Joann's. The pink stars are from Making Memories.

The prize up for grabs for this challenge is this wonderful clear stamp set from Queen Kat Designs called: Greetings Stamps #1

I will have 2 other challenges this afternoon with prizes from Firecracker Designs by Pamela and DRS Designs, as well as a Firecracker Designs blog hop, so please stop back!

HAPPY WORLD CARD MAKING DAY!!!!!
