Blog Candy For a GREAT cause!!!!!!

ETA: This blog candy has gotten even sweeter. To see the additional stamp sets click HERE

This month my blog candy is going to be a little different...This month I have a challenge for all of you. My good friend Chava (who I've known for 30 years - yikes, does that make me feel old!) has a 18 month old son Alex. Shortly after Alex was born he was diagnosed with having Cystic Fibrosis. For those of you unfamiliar with CF here is a brief description:

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that:

  • clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and
  • obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.
Here is where my challenge comes in... Chava is participating in one of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Great Strides walks in Des Moines, IA on 5/16/09. Her fundraising goal is $500. Nearly 90 cents of every dollar raised is available for investment in vital CF programs to support research, care and education. Research and care supported by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is making a huge difference in extending the quality of life for those with CF. To learn more about CF and the CF Foundation you can visit there site HERE.
I'd love to help Chava reach her fundraising goal. I have already donated to her walk but would like to try and help out a little more. I am offering a chance at some fun blog candy to anyone who donates. There is no minimum donation. You can donate $1 or more. All you need to do for a chance at the blog candy is go to Chava's CF donation site HERE to place a secure donation (don't worry if your name doesn't show up on her donation list instantly, I've noticed that in some cases it takes several hours). After you donate, leave a comment on this post. You DO NOT need to tell me how much you donated. I just appreciate any help you can give! I'm keeping this blog candy open a little longer than normal in hopes of helping her raise as much money as possible...I will pick a blog candy winner on Friday April 17th. Please help spread the word!! I'd love for any of you to mention my post on your blogs, the more exposure the better.

Now for the blog candy...This blog candy package is valued at over $80. The package includes:
Gina K Heartfelt Hits 1 stamp set,
Clear Artistic Stamps "I'm Just Saying" stamp set,
Autumn Leaves "Winter Holidays" stamp set,

Heather, this is wonderful!
My niece has CF and had a double lung transplant last May...she's such a fighter! I remember when they didn't expect her to live pass the age of, 2,5,10,16....She is 23 happily married with two precious little girls and breathing easier for the first time in her life!!!!
Share that encouragement with your friend!!
So what you are doing is a great, great thing! Be Blessed, Maria

Thank you so much for bringing awareness to such important research. My DS#1 has a great friend he met in first grade (now a HS sophomore) who has CF. I would love to see him not fighting on a daily basis. How he smiles constantly and keeps he sweet spirit with all he battles is an inspiration.
I hope your friend raises twice her goal!

Hi Heather,

I just stopped by the CFF site and donated for a great cause. Chava has reached her personal goal, now to work towards the group one.

Thanks for standing up and helping. People like you Heather, are truly special *huge hugs*

Hi, I donated a while ago and left a comment but for some reason it isn't showing up now. Anyway, I guess this just gives me another chance to say how great this cause is and how happy I am that I found your site so I could pitch in.

I must have left my comment on the wrong section as it's not here. But I sent a donation to the address you listed, and I've put this on my candy blog Here
