Paper Pretties Wednesday Challenge and a Blog Hop!

Welcome back to another Paper Pretties Wednesday challenge and blog hop! The challenge this week is to decorate a notebook. For all of the challenge details be sure to check out the Paper Clip.

Since I'm still trying to ease my way back into my stamping routine, I made a pretty simple little notebook this week. One of my goals for 2010 is to be better at sending out birthday cards (on time). I figured if I made a little notebook and wrote birthdays and addresses in it and kept in at my stamp table maybe I'd be more on the ball when it comes to sending birthday cards.

For my notebook I used a little 3.5"x3.5" mini scrapbook. I stamped and colored Make a Wish Sophia and adhered it to the scrapbook. I added some ribbon to the spirals and viola!

If you are just joining in the hop be sure to go back and start from the begining (Christie's blog). If you have been hopping along, the next stop in the hop is the blog of Prettie Girl Wendy Bond.

Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge!

Welcome to another fabulous Jacksonbelle Tuesday challenge! For our final challenge of 2009 we decided to have a little fun with ribbon. Our challenge this week is called "Rolling in Ribbon". Think of a fun way to use ribbon ie ruffles, make a medallion by using a running stitch and gathering, use your scraps and layer them under your image...anything with ribbon! We would love for you to play along with us. If you do, be sure to leave us a link to your project on the challenge post on the Jacksonbelle blog.

Because I'm still a bit out of it after vacation and Christmas, I totally thought this challenge was to just use ribbon. I totally missed the part about a creative way to use ribbon. So here is my not-so-creative way of using ribbon:
I used a super cute Stampavie stamp, gorgeous May Arts ribbon and Basic Grey designer paper from the Jacksonbelle store.

This week is the last week for a couple of our departing design team members. Be sure to stop by and leave them some love. They are definitely going to be missed!

This was definitely a challenge for me since I don't own any eyelets. Lucky for me a few weeks ago when I went to my friend Jen's for a stamping night, I raided her crazy eyelet stash. She just happened to have frog eyelets which I thought would work perfect with Lady Sophia.

I have to admit I have been a terrible scrapper the past year. I think I've maybe made a total of 6 pages. I am grossly behind on my kids books! Christie's challenge got my mind back in scrapping mode and I'm hoping to work on some pages after Christmas (I'm also going to give a try at digi scrapping thanks to some major inspiration from Christie's AMAZING digi pages! - when you go to her blog make sure you scroll down and check them out!).

For my 6x6 page I used Whiskers Sophia. The picture is from Halloween when Annabelle was 2 years old...she's 6 now. Where does the time go?

If you are just starting at my blog, head on over to Christie's blog to start from the beginning. You definitely won't want to miss any of the stops! If you are following the hop, the next stop after my blog is the blog of Prettie Girl Wendy Bond!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you all have a terrific day! We got 15 inches of snow last night with 2-4 more in the forecast for today so I can safely say we will not be going ANYWHERE today! I'm hoping to get the house clean and all of our stuff packed for our trip to Florida!

Postcard request

I have a slightly strange request today... My niece's 3rd grade class is writing letters to people around the country asking them to send post cards to their class. They are trying to get postcards from all 50 states. If any of you would be willing to send a postcard please send me an email (thlr2003@gmail.com) with your mailing address. The kids have to write a letter to each person asking for the postcard which is why I need your address. You would not need to send a postcard until you get the letter from her class. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to send one!

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

ETA: They have or will have postcards coming from the following states thus far: CA, AK, FL, WI, CO, WA, OR, OH, MI, TX, LA, NC, AL, ID, NV and KS. They still need the rest of the states!

Paper Pretties December Release Previews Continue!

This is my 2nd blog post of the day. To see my LPS Monday challenge card please scroll down to previous post.

Welcome to another preview for the Paper Pretties December Release! We had so much fun last month using a well known song for our peeks that we thought we'd try it again! And.. since we love giving things away, we'll have the same rules for prizes as last month: Each day two or three of the Prettie Girls will upload their preview cards to the Paper Pretties gallery...If you stop by the Pretties Gallery and leave that Prettie Girl a comment on her card, you'll have a chance to win the new set being previewed - make sense?
The contest will end December 2nd and the winners will be posted on the Paper Clip. You can find the link to the specific cards in the Paper Pretties gallery on each blog post.
This month, in keeping with Christmas we've chosen a well known Christmas carol - Winter Wonderland as our preview inspiration! Today there are previews from Christie, Wendy and myself. Be sure you stop by and leave a comment in the gallery for each card for your chance to win!

Today I am lucky enough to give you an early peak of the upcoming January SOTM. I adore every single Sophia image and today's preview is no different...Under the Sea Sophia is ADORABLE!!!!

Just like my card I previewed on Thursday... I sort of forgot about using the Winter Wonderland lyrics as inspiration when I made my card. Today's card was a lot easier to find a lyric for though..."A Beautiful Sight"....Sophia is definitely a beautiful sight!!!
I colored my main image with Copic markers and added some glitter. When we were in Florida last December I collected a bunch of teeny tiny sea shells that I thought I could maybe use "someday" on a card..."someday" finally arrived! I thought the little orange scallop shell worked great with this image. The designer paper is My Mind's Eye.
Be sure to stop by the Paper Pretties gallery and leave a comment on my card!

Also...Don't forget to stop on by the party in the Paper Pretties forum tomorrow night at 7pm CST when all the stamps will be released for sale.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you all have a terrific day!

LPS "Recyle It" Challenge!

Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! It is Monday, so that means it is time for another super fun Little Paper Shop challenge! This week our challenge is called "Recycle It". If you do, be sure to leave a link to your project on the challenge post on the LPS blog! One lucky participant this week will win the LPS set {I Heart}!

I picked a fun sketch by design team member Cindy Haffner:
For my card I used the adorable {Katie Caroler} set.
For more inspiration, be sure to check out the blogs of all of the Little Paper Shop design team members!

Don't forget that everything in the LPS store is on sale 10-70% off! It is a great time to build up your collection or pick up some fun Christmas gifts at an awesome price! Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you all have a terrific day!

Paper Pretties December Preview!

Welcome to our Prettie Peeks for the Paper Pretties December Release!
Today there are previews from Christie, Jennifer and myself. Be sure you stop by and leave a comment in the gallery for each card for your chance to win!

The first December set that I am previewing is called "Unknown Blessings". I LOVE this set! The two mailbox images are super fun and there are also some fun sentiments to go along with them.

To be totally honest, I sort of forgot about using the Winter Wonderland lyrics as inspiration when I made my card. It was a bit hard to find a lyric that fit the card after the fact, but I think it just might fit with "In the lane, snow is glistening"....my thinking is there are probably mailboxes "in the lane" and the bling on my card is "glistening", LOL.

Be sure to head on over to the Paper Pretties gallery and leave a comment on MY CARD for a chance to win this super fun set!

Also...Don't forget to stop on by the party in the Paper Pretties forum on December 1st at 7pm CST when all the stamps will be released for sale.

Oh and one more thing....Paper Pretties is having a Thanksgiving sale now through Sunday...30% off all Thanksgiving, Christmas and Winter stamps!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

A Prettie Challenge and Blog Hop!

It's Wednesday! That means it is time for another funWednesday Prettie Challenge and blog hop! This week our challenge comes from Prettie Mama herself! Christie's challenge is to use the picture below as an inspiration piece. We would love for you to ink up your Paper Pretties stamps and play along with us. One lucky challenge participant will win a $15 coupon to the Paper Pretties Boutique. Here are the challenge details:

How to Enter: make a card using the provided sketch and any Paper Pretties stamp set(s) you have. Upload the card to the Paper Pretties gallery. Please include it in the Weekly Challenges album and use keyword PWC75.
Deadline: 6pm EST Tuedsay, December 1st.
Prize: $15.00 coupon to the Paper Pretties Boutique

Here is the inspiration piece:

I used the teal from the photo as the inspiration for my card. When I was looking through the Paper Pretties Gliding By gallery I saw a GORGEOUS card made by Prettie Girl Frances that I just had to CASE. Check out Frances' card HERE.

Here is my card:
I colored Gliding By Sophia with Copic markers and then added some Sparkly Fluff to her ear muffs and the fluffy thing on her arm. The snowflakes are made out of fast air drying polymer clay. I rolled the clay as flat as I could and let it dry for a while. I then used my Martha Stewart snowflake punch and punched the snowflakes. I let them dry for 24 hours longer and then added the rhinestones. It was my first time working with clay but I thought they turned out pretty good.

Be sure to stop back tomorrow for the first Paper Pretties December release preview!
