Shimmerz is having a Design Team call!

I thought I would post this info for all of you Shimmerz fans! You all know that I LOVE Shimmerz! It is one of my favorite products! Here are the design team details:

We're looking for several talented designers to join our team. If you enjoy making projects that sparkle and can capture the sparkle in a photograph, please apply today! The applicants for this call will be considered not only for current openings the DT, but also for future openings and for guest spots throughout 2009. We don't plan to have another call until 2010!

We want to find:

  • Active, enthusiastic team members who enjoy using and talking about our products
  • A nice mix of seasoned designers and talented rookies
  • A variety of artists represented on the team: rubber stampers, scrapbookers, altered artists, painters, etc.

Our team offers designers a lot of flexibility. There are no vendor restrictions at this time, so designers are free to include any stamps, paper, embellishments, etc. from any other vendor. We're also flexible on project type. You can create cards, scrapbook layouts, jewelry, painting, 3-D/home decor item, etc.... as long as Shimmerz is used and is visible on the project. (Photography is very important!)

  • Use Shimmerz/Blingz on your projects and photograph them.
  • Post at least 2 projects per month on the Shimmerz blog.
  • Post your Shimmerz projects on your personal blog and online gallery(ies), with links to the Shimmerz blog.
  • Support new product offerings, blog candy, and other special events by posting them on your blog.

  • The DT Kit includes 5 jars of Shimmerz which are received at the outset of the DT member's term. Additional jars are sent when new products are released. {For example, 12 new colors have been released in the past 6 months.}
  • Additional Shimmerz for personal use available at a generous discount
  • Incentive for projects published using and naming Shimmerz
  • Your name and a link to your blog on the Shimmerz blog
  • Fun opportunities for creative input like new colors and color names

We want to see 3-5 examples of your very best work that creatively showcases Shimmerz (if you have some) or any other glittery product. You can attach these photos in your e-mail (please be mindful of file sizes) or include links to gallery pages or specific blog posts. Within the text of the message, we'll want to learn more about you:
  • Name:
  • E-mail Address:
  • Blog Address:
  • Gallery Address(es):
  • Design Team Experience: (Please don't worry if the answer to this is "none". We're looking for rookies, too!)
  • Other crafting experience (Publications, Teaching at LSS, etc.)?
  • Anything else you'd like to add.

Please e-mail your submission to for consideration. You can also use that e-mail address if you have any questions. Applications will be accepted through 11:59PM Mountain Time on Sunday, February 15th.

For all of you interested in applying, I highly recommend you do. Stacey is a wonderful person to work for and team is fantastic! They are an incredibly talented group of ladies! If you have any questions please feel free to ask me or contact Stacey or Kim (the dt coordinator) through the Shimmerz blog.

Thanks for stopping by today. It is FREEZING cold here today. Current conditions say -14 with a windchill of -30. YUCK! I hate cold weather! Every school around is closed! Unfortunately the kids have haircut appointments later this morning. I would cancel but it is so hard to get in with their stylist. Hopefully after that I will get lots of stamping time in this afternoon! Hope you all have a warm and cozy day!

Here is the sketch:Here is my card:

Pink Papery Studios Altered Challenge!

This week the Pink Papery Studios DT was given the challenge of creating an altered item. To be totally honest I suck at altered items but I did my best to come up with something presentable. This was even more of a challenge considering whatever illness I have has sucked the life out of me. My energy level is in the negative the past couple days.
If you aren't familiar with Pink Papery Studios, they offer a ton of cute stamps and you can purchase them either as a stamp set or as a digi set. The digi sets are less expensive and very versatile. You can resize the images to whatever size you need. Very convenient.
Here is my altered 7x10 inch spiral scrapbook:Thanks for stoppy by today. I hop you are all having a wonderful day!

New Blingz!!

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, Shimmerz Paints has just released 4 brand new lovely colors of Blingz! The new colors are: Flashee Fuchsia, Hottie Pink, Hi-Ho Silver and Pixie Dust. These colors are PERFECT for your Valentine's Day creations or any other fun spring project you make. I aboslutely LOVE the new Pixie Dust Blingz! For my card I painted the cat and the open hearts with Pixie Dust Blingz. I also used Hottie Pink to paint the cat's nose and ears. I am so in love with these new colors!Card details: Stamps from DRS Designs, SU CS, CM cutting system, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder, Martha Stewart border punch, foam dimensionals, misc ribbon.

First DRS Designs blog challenge of 2009!!

It's a new year and a new set of challenges!! Today the design team was presented with a challenge to use any of the DRS Designs ribbon slides as their focal image on their project.

We would love for you to play along with us and if you do, you just might win a prize!! On Sunday, January 25, DRS Designs will draw one random name from all the projects linked to the official challenge post on the DRS Designs blog (HERE). Now, you don't have to use DRS images if you don't have them yet...we know you will soon and you can use them for later challenges! If you don't have any DRS ribbon slides you can use any other kind of ribbon slide or even turn an existing image into a ribbon slide as long as you use it as your focal point. If you don't use DRS images and your name is chosen you will receive a selection of ribbon slides of your very own! If you DO use DRS images and your name is chosen, you will receive an even bigger selection of slides!!

If you would like to play along, just make sure to comment on the DRS Designs blog (HERE) with a direct link to your creation so we can come check it out! If you upload to a public gallery, please use the keyword DRSC12.

Can't wait to see how you inspire us!

Here is the card I made using the star ribbon slide:

Check out the DRS Designs blog to see all of the wonderful cards made by the rest of the design team!
